  • The Pharisee and the Tax Collector in Lk 18:9-14 –Sociological and Theological Interpretations–

The study concerns narrative of Lk 18:9-14 that regards issue of justification (Lk 18:14), which is exposed by two narrative layers, namely by the sociological layer (Lk 18:10-13) and by the theological layer (Lk 18:9.14). The most imported layer concerns sociological narrative, where two protagonists, the Pharisee and the tax-collector are presented by their way of praying in the Temple. Base on the account of their praying, Lucan Jesus makes judgment concerning justification (Lk 18:14), which is the contribution made by the theological layer.
Concerning the research method used in the study, we provide exegetical and structural analysis, as well as the sociological interpretation of the narrative Lk 18:9-14 and the theological interpretation of the narrative, in order to expose the way in which Luke combine these two layers for one single purpose that concerns God’s justification.
The final outcome of this study says: “The main purpose of the social layer of this narrative would be highly weird, if this layer won’t be supplied by the theological layer. It is the theological layer, constructed by Luke, based on his acceptance of Paul’s theological teaching concerning justification of human being by God, that exposes most important for Luke theme of justification. Justification is not a reword for “good life”, but it is God’s grace, which is beyond all human standards of justice.”

  • The Letters to the Seven Churches of Asia Minor -Socio-Historical Reality Behind the Prophetic Words- Part II: The Letter to the Church of Smyrna

The Letter to the Church in Smyrna (Rev 2:8-11) is the second letter among the Letters to the Churches in Asia Minor. The letter deals with two problems: one is the socio-economical ostracism of the Christians, which made their lives in the city harsh and constantly under pressure; the other is the persecution of the Christians in order to force them to deny their faith in Jesus, the Lord. The second problem is the main theme of the Lord’s teaching to the Smyrna community. It concerns the priority of being free from the “second death” that is the eternal condemnation, before the “first death” that is death of the earthly body. Avoiding the “first death” and denying the faith leads to eternal condemnation (the second death) but accepting the “first death” in order to preserve faith in the Lord leads to eternal life with the Lord and avoiding the “second death.”

The Revelation of John is the last book in the canon of the New Testament, and it tells about “what will take place very soon” (Rev 1:1). This naturally indicates that the focus of the Book is strongly connected with the future that is prophesied by Jesus Christ, but it does not exclude narratives relating to contemporary problems. The fact that after the introduction to the book (Rev 1) the first section of the book contains the Letters to the Seven Churches of Asia (Rev 2-3), where the problems in each Church is a main theme of each letter, attests that the author “keeps his foot on this earth”. There are seven letters addressed to the Christian communities of seven cities (Ephesus, Smyrna, Pergamon, Thyatira, Sardis, Philadelphia and Laodicea) located in Asia Minor and all of them are close to the most important city in the region, Ephesus.
The Letter to the Church in Ephesus is the first among the seven letters to churches in Asia Minor included in the book of Revelation. Probably there is more than one reason for giving priority to Christian community in Ephesus, but the major reason is the role the city of Ephesus played during the first century AD, as well as superior position of the Church of Ephesus among other churches in the region making the community in Ephesus to take the role of “mother church”.

This is the last contribution to a series of studies regarding the relationship between the John the Baptist and Jesus of Nazareth. This study concerns the presentation of their relation in the Gospel of John which in general differs significantly from the Synoptic Gospels in the presentation of this relationship. It concerns not only the accounts found in the Synoptic traditions but absent from the Johannine tradition, and vice versa, but also the basic statements regarding the dignity of Jesus and the function of John the Baptist, in which Jesus is the incarnate Son of God and John is the witness to Jesus who leads the people to believe in Jesus as the Savior (Messiah). The main focus in John’s witness is placed on Jesus’ divine dignity.

In the Synoptic Gospels the Gospel of Luke contains the largest amount of material unique to itself, even though Luke mainly follows Matthew’s Gospel and occasionally Mark’s Gospel. Regarding the relationship between Jesus of Nazareth and John the Baptist, Luke includes some accounts that are absent from the Gospel of Matthew and the Gospel of Mark, which gives particular importance to Luke’s account. In this second part of the study of Luke’s presentation of the relationship between the two candidates for the title of Messiah we present five accounts found in his Gospel (Lk 9:7-9 – Herod’s reaction to Jesus; Lk 9:18-21 - Peter’s confession; Lk 11:1-4 - Jesus’ prayer; Lk 16:14-17 – “until the time of John”; Lk 20:1-8 – the question about authority).

The relationship between Jesus and John, and their movements, is a topic present in all Gospels as well as in the Acts of the Apostles. The presentation of the topic in the Gospels concerns the period when both leaders were actively involved in their mission work, but the Acts reflects conditions several years after both leaders were no more involved in the activities, but their disciples were continuing the ways of their leaders. The main topic of this study concerns the account in Ac 19:1-7 regarding the conversion of John’s disciples in Ephesus by Paul the Apostol of Jesus the Resurrected Messiah. The conclusion is that Ac 19:1-7 presents in summary form the topic elaborated by all Synoptic Gospels, but with special reference given here to the author of Gospel of Luke and the Acts of the Apostles.

Regarding the topic of the relation between Jesus of Nazareth and John the Baptist, Luke includes four accounts that are absent in both the Gospel of Matthew and the Gospel of Mark, which makes Luke’s account concerning the relationship to contribute to the narratives regarding the relationship found in the other Synoptic Gospels. In this first part of the study regarding Luke’s presentation of the relationship between the two candidates to the title of the Messiah, we will present the first five accounts founded in his Gospel, where the most interesting is the infant narrative (Lk 1-2) and the narrative regarding John’s doubts (Lk 7:18-35).

The study concerns the exposition of the relationship between John the Baptist and Jesus of Nazareth in the Gospel of Mark. Both persons were involved in socio-religious movements that in different ways were headed for a common aim. The differences in the attitudes of both movements, and the Jewish society’s evaluation of these movements are subjects of analysis in this study. The results of the analysis expose the relations between these two movements and their leaders, which is the main aim of Mark’s exposition of this topic. Mark indicates in the last account regarding the relationship (Mk 11:27-33) that both John and Jesus’ authorities comes from God; however, there is a difference between these authorities as John only possesses the authority of a prophet, while Jesus possesses the authority of the Messiah.

This study is the first of five articles in preparation exploring the presentation of the relationship between Jesus of Nazareth and John the Baptist in the New Testament. The fact that this theme is presented not only in the Synoptic Gospel but also in the Gospel of John, as well as in the Act of the Apostles, allows us to assume that this topic was of crucial importance to those who contributed to establishing the tradition of the Church and the canon of the Bible. In this study we investigate the presentation of the relationship between Jesus and John and their movements in the Gospel of Matthew. For Matthew, Jesus’ Messianic dignity is axiomatic. However, Matthew was aware that not all Jesus’ followers and especially the followers of John the Baptist shared his conviction. For this reason, his presentation of the relationship between Jesus and John leads towards the recognition that John was the prophet working to prepare the way for the promised Messiah, Jesus of Nazareth. His account contains crucial information concerning John’s movement, and its subordination to the movement of Jesus.

The study concerns presentation of Pilate, the fifth prefect of Judea as he is presented in the Gospel of John. Because John’s Gospel differs from the Synoptic Gospel, also the John’s perspective on Pilate, although in general terms agrees with account of other Evangelists, shows specific approach to presentation of Pilate. The double layer of the narrative (inside the praetorium and outside the praetorium) strongly suggest John’s double perspective on the prefect, which presents him in relation to Jesus and in relation to Jews.

The dominant classi cation of Acts as the history of the early Christian Church whose main aim is to present the spread of the nascent movement from a less important part of the Roman Empire (Judea) to the very heart of the Empire (Rome), seems to be supported by Acts 1:8 which is often taken as a kind of very general a table of contents. However, the rather unexpected end of Acts (a short and laconic account regarding Paul’s period in Rome), and Luke’s approach to and use of his sources, allow us to assume that Luke was aiming rather at a great story involving some main hearos and many other par- ticipants than are involved in just one thematic story. Following this assumption, based on the content of Acts, it is possible to individuate two main heroes (Peter and Paul) whose fate is somehow connected with many other persons that are also involved in giv- ing witness to Jesus the Resurrected Messiah. In this study we look at Acts as the story concerning the two the most important witnesses, Peter and Paul, in order to determine their contribution to establishing the structural and doctrinal foundation of the New Israel.

The first part of the study concerns Peter as the witness to Resurrected Messiah. Peter, as the head of the Twelve, is presented by Luke in three elements regarding the proclaiming of the kerygma. The first regards proclaiming the kerygma to inhabitants of Jerusalem, the second concerns the proclaiming the kerygma during the conflict with the Sanhedrin, and third shows his stand for the truth of the kerygma. The study focuses on Peter’s contribution to shaping the basis of Christian doctrine.

The study concerns a portrait of Pilate in the Matthew’s Gospel. Comparing to other Synoptic Gospels (Lk and Mk), Matthew pays much more attention to the person of Pilate. First, through the whole narrative of Jesus’ trial, Pilate is a protagonist, who shows at least neutral (Mt 27, 11-14) but mostly pro-Jesus attitude (Mt 27, 15-26). We will try to argue for reason of such presentation of Pilate, which is in sharp difference to that of other Gospels. We take position that the aim of Matthew’s presentation of Pilate is to free him for any responsibility for Jesus’ crucifixion.

Among them, though only marginally present, but no doubt a very important agent, given Mark’s presumed audience is Pilate, for whom Mark reserved a special role.

This study concerns Luke’s perspective on Pilate, the fifth prefect of Judea, as it is presented in Luke’s Gospel. Recording eight events involving the prefect, Luke shows his socio and theological understanding and the inter-operation of the event regarding Jesus’ death, which are directly related to Pilate. Luke’s account concerning Pilate does not lead to making a judgment about Pilate, but shows him rather as a mid-level official trapped between two worlds, trapped between a world where hostility and conflicts of interests could have fatal consequences, where common sense and the demands of justice and truth take second place. A place where the struggle to maintain one’s integrity makes demands almost too weighty for human fragility to bear.

The analysis considers all references regarding Pilate that are found in their writings. The analysis, first focuses on the texts and the information provided in them, and then on a critical interpretation of the information placed in the socio-political context of first century Roman Empire, as well as the socio-religious context in which the writing were created by the authors. This approach helps us to uncover the authors’ tendency in recording the events regarding Pilate.

The study concerns the use of the term “Christ” in the eulogy found in the Letter to the Ephesians (Eph 1, 3-14), with particular reference to the understanding of Eph 1, 11. Generally there is no doubt that the term refers to Jesus of Nazareth. However, in verse 11, although pronoun “in Him” that is equivalent of the term “Christ” is used in the same way, it is connected to another pronoun “we”, whose identification is not clear and the subject of diverse interpretations. In this study we argue for identifying the pronoun “we” with Jews, although the majority of scholars do not accept this. This interpretation directly influences the understanding of the pronoun “in Him”, which, although it still refers to Jesus of Nazareth, in this particular context (verse 11) should be taken in a more general sense as the Messiah, a concept that was created within the Jewish tradition and claimed by Christians to be personified in Jesus of Nazareth.

The article considers history of Judea region, since the death of Herod the Great (4 BC) till the beginning of the Jewish-Roman War (66/67-70/73 AD) as it is presented by Josephus Flavius in his the Jewish War (JW 2.1-284) and the Jewish Antiquities (JA 17.191-20.268). Since Josephus exclusively concentrates on Judea, hardly mentions the two other parts of the Herod`s kingdom Galilee and Trachontis, following this approach we will present separately accounts concerning each of the regions, with special attention given to history of Judea. Although written by the same author, the two works of Josephus despite similarities in the contains, differ radically in their presentation, evaluation and purpose of writing, what forced us not to mix these two accounts but to present them separately in order to indicate how strong socio-historical circumstances can influence recording of historical events. The history of Judea region in period 4 BC-67AD can be divided into four parts, where the first (4 BC-6 AD) considers the time of the etnarchy under the rule of Archelaus, the second (6-41 AD) considers the time of the province under the rule of prefects, the third (41-44 AD) considers the time of the kingdom under the rule of Herod Agrippa I, and fourth (44-67 AD) considers the time of the province under the rule of procurators. Josephus writes short and extremely negative account concerning the first period (4 BC-6 AD). He elaborates the account concerning the second period (6-41 AD), where his criticism and negative evaluation of the prefects` rule were expressed by putting attention only to negative aspects. Josephus with unmasked proud and real delighting writes about the third period (41-44 AD) which concerns the reign of Herod Agrippa I, the descendent of the Herod Dynasty (grandfather) and the Hasmonean Dynasty (grandmother). Concerning the fourth period (44-67 AD), Josephus writes very strong criticism against not only the Roman prefects but also against the Jewish authorities including the high priests of the Temple, who are blamed for creating socio-political situation, which led to the war between Romans and Jews. This approach of Josephus has much common with his attempt to present Jewish nation as the “victim” of the native leaders and the Romans` administrators.

In order to achieve this aim examined the time span of Paul`s journey, so allowing us to place Luke`s narrative in its correct socio-historical background. The information concerning each of the cities that Paul was visited, helping us to understand the diversity of places, which created particular social environments that worked for or against the success or lack of success of the mission.

The pater concerns the life of Herod the Great since 18 B.C, the end of basic building works at the Jerusalem Temple until his death in 4 B.C. The accounts concerning this period of Herod`s life are included in the Wars of the Jews and the Antiquities of the Jews. The account of the Wars of the Jews concentrate exclusively only on troubles inside Herod`s family, namely on conflict between the brethren, the sons of Herod and Mariamne (Alexander and Aristobulus IV) and the son of Herod and Doris (Antipater II). In fact it is conflict between the last decadence of the Hasmonean Dynasty (the sons of Mariamne) and the heir of the Herodian Dynasty (the son of Doris). The account of the Antiquities of the Jews although also presents the conflict between brethren but it is only one of many topics, and the conflict is presented in different way and different context. In the Antiquities, Josephus focus on many topics among those the most important are: Herod`s straggle to control the family matters; the tied relation with Rome in order to secure the kingdom; the problems concerning Herod`s successor.

This is a study of the account of a dispute between Paul and Barnabas concerning John, also called Mark, which Luke gives in Ac 15, 36-40. This peculiar account, which seems to be in opposition to the idealistic picture of the first generation Christian life-style (Ac 2, 42-47; 4, 32-37), is analyzed in its socio-historical context in order to understand the reason, aim and function of the account in the narrative structure of Acts. The analysis of Ac 15, 36-40 leads us to conclude that Luke had a purpose in inserting the account here concerning the conflict between Paul and Barnabas in an instrumental manner. The function of the account is to indicate the point when Luke`s narration changes from a general approach (a history of the first-generation Christians) to a particular approach (a history of Paul’s mission activities).

The writings of the Flavius Josephus (Wars of the Jews; Antiquities of the Jews), are main sources of knowledge concerning the life of Herod the Great. In this paper we analyse the Josephus accounts (A.J.15.1-11; W.J.1.18-22) referring to the period of Herod`s life from the beginning of his reign (37 B.C.) until finishing the basic rebuilding of the Jerusalem Temple (18 B.C.). For analysis, we divided the period it into two parts. The first part (37-30 B.C.) concerns Herod`s straggle to secure his reign on international and domestic level.

This paper gives attention to Rom 1, 18-32 which presents an argument that the Gentiles, although they are without the Law, are also subject to punishment according to the law. Usually this fragment is considered to be a statement of Paul’s own opinion on the subject. We argue that Rom 1, 18-32 does not present Paul’s opinion concerning the guilt of the Gentiles, but functions as a presentation of a stereotypical Jewish accusation against them.

Concerning the mission journey, which was an initiative of the church of Antioch (Ac 13, 2-3), it can be said with a high degree of probability that the primary goal was only Cyprus (Ac 13, 5-6). However, because of the conversion of Sergius Paulus (Ac 13, 12), whose family held property in Pisidian Antioch, the mission plan was extended. This was most probably the reason why Mark left the group (Ac 13, 13). The mission in the region of Pamphilia, to judge from its fruits, must be counted as a success even it came at the cost of great hardship, especially for Paul himself (Ac 14, 5. 19; 2 Tm 3, 11). During the mission Paul and Barnabas addressed the Gospel not only to Jews of the Diaspora (Ac 13, 5) by also to Gentiles (Ac 13, 46-49). In both cases, they had both successes in terms of conversions, and failures in the form of opposition from the Jewish side and misunderstanding on the side of the Gentiles. In many places Christian groups were established which within a few years became quite strong and active (Ac 13, 8-18). It is difficult to be certain about the length of time of the journey . Paul left nothing in writing concerning this mission period.

The article concerns a period of Saul’s life from his conversion at Damascus until the so-called first mission journey of Paul (A.D. 34-44). The period contains four events: life and activities at Damascus; the first visit to Jerusalem after his conversion; his stay in his hometown Tarsus; mission work at Antioch. The purpose of the paper is to stress importance of this period in the development of the personality of the future apostle of the Gentiles. The process took a considerably long time and it contained a wide range of events and experiences. After a presentation of the chronology of the period, attention is given to analysis of each of the events which mostly focus on the relation between Saul after his conversion and the groups of Jesus’ believers.

  • To Save the Unity of the Church or to Create the Unity of Churches? The Purpose of the First Letter to the Corinthian

    アカデミア   4   13   2012年6月

     詳細を見る

The general understanding in current scholarship concerning the purpose of the First Letter to Corinthians is that Paul wrote the letter in order to save the unity of the church at Corinth. This opinion is based on assumption that the church at Corinth was a united church from the time it was established by Paul. After apostle left the city and the community was left without its leader, diversity came to surface. In this study we attempt to show that the purpose of 1 Cor was to create a unity (understood as a harmony) among many household churches at Corinth. First, we argue that the church at Corinth was not one united church at the beginning, but many household churches which only occasionally met together. Next, we examine the text of 1 Cor 1, 10 where the topic of the Letter is presented, and show that Paul is asking for the establishment of a unity that did not yet exist; he is not attempting to protect an existing unity. After the analysis of the text we point out reasons for the diversity in Corinth, both on the socio-political level (1 Cor 1-4) and on the cultural-spiritual level (1 Cor 11-15), which in our opinion prove that these problems were obstacles to the creation of harmony and not a reason for the loss of an existing unity. Finally, Paul’s method of argumentation and persuasion is used as an indicator of the purpose of the letter. With a few exceptions, he avoids invoking authority. Instead he attempts to exhort the many household churches in Corinth towards forming a unity among them.

The custom of circumcision was much older than its function as the sign of the covenant between God and the chosen people. Until now there has been no satisfactory explanation of the roots and primary meaning of the custom.
For Jews circumcision became the sign of the covenant and, after the time of Abraham, the sign of belonging to the chosen nation. In the history of Israel and the history of salvation, circumcision served as a sign of national and religious identity.
Concerning Paul’s attitude toward the custom of circumcision the problem is often analyzed without the necessary distinction being made between the strictly Jewish context and the context of Jewish-gentile relations in a perspective of justification and salvation.
Concerning the strict Jewish contexts of Paul attitude toward the circumcision, it must be stressed that the apostle was himself a circumcised Jew and that he never opposed circumcision as the valued sign of the covenant unless there arose the problems of justification and salvation. In the context of justification, Paul states that circumcision, as the sign of the covenant is not relevant, because no one can fully observe the Law and hence of this everyone must be justified by faith as Abraham was.
Concerning the relation between Jew and gentiles in the perspective of justification and salvation Paul states that it is not circumcision of the body but circumcision of the heart, i.e., faith that matters most. Circumcised Jews as well as non-circumcised gentiles will be justified through faith. In this context circumcision is neither a help nor an obstacle. This is probably the reason why Paul so vigorously opposed some Jewish Christians who taught that circumcision was the necessary way for gentiles to become Christian.
Concerning the account of Paul (Gal) and the account of Luke (Ac), despite the obvious differences in form and purpose of both accounts, there is agreement concerning the problem of circumcision. Paul’s account concerning the problem of circumcision in Gal is placed in an apologetic context. The account of Gal is made by the man who stands directly in the battlefield. The account of Ac is a part of the narrative concerning Paul’s mission among gentiles. Luke places his account concerning the problem of circumcision just before the account of the second mission journey, which (apart from the beginning) was mostly a mission among gentiles. The primary purpose of the account is to attest Paul’s teaching concerning circumcision as the teaching accepted and acknowledged by those who became apostles earlier than Paul.

  • To Be Christian in a Non-Christian Warld. Paul’s approach to the Slavery Problem in the Letter to Philemon

In this paper we present the way in which early Christianity challenged the system of slavery, not by legal regulations but by new teaching. The main teaching statement was simple and, at the same time, unthinkable to the citizens of the Roman Empire, i.e. “we all are brothers in Christ”. Paul’s Letter to Philemon shows the Christians’ attempts to overcome a socio-legal regulation concerning the slavery problem by personal relationship based on their faith in Christ. Paul, Philemon and Onesimus were Christians living in a non-Christian world, and in this context the problem of the slave Onesimus, which Paul tries to solve, can be taken as an example of the way that Christianity approached the problem of slavery among its believers. The Christian way of solving the problem of slavery in Phm is restricted only to the Christian group and is not representative of the relations between Christians and non-Christians. This means that the way in which Paul dealt with the problem should not be viewed as a direct challenge of the socio-legal regulation but rather as a call for another, non legislative way, to solve problems between Christians. The proposed way is built on the new relationship called “brothers in Christ”. The new Christian identity should be more important in relations between believers than social status and legal rights.

Paul is one of few persons that not only contributed to the New Testament canon (the letters), but also became a “hero” of another writer (Luke), who also contributed to the canon. Considering the importance of Paul’s theological contributions and Luke’s considerable interest in Paul’s missionary activities, it must be accepted that the New Testament provides sufficient material for studying the person of Saul, also called Paul. However, this does not mean that all information regarding Paul is provided. The quantity and variety of the available material results in many different studies that approach the person of Paul from almost every possible angle, which results in many “perspectives on Paul” that are dependent on the method, axiomatic statement, purpose of study, scientific or religious attitude, comprehension or the use of the sources by a challenger. In some cases, studies use the primary sources and secondary sources in a complementary way, which leads to the creation of a kind of picture named “Saint Paul.” However, in some cases the studies use the sources in a comparative way, which brings drastically different evaluations and presentations of Paul.

Among many possible understandings of human dignity, I personally favor and follow this concept of human dignity that is built entirely on conviction that the universe is created by God. Putting aside for the moment the believing conviction, I found this concept of human dignity the most coherent, because of these reasons: - It starts from positive approach and it ends with positive approach - It is unconditional - It ontologically belonging to mankind - It is given by the authority abought, but not by human authority - It never can be taken from mankind - It includes positive end for mankind - It is reason for taking care about each other - It is the most crucial factor in developing self-confidence - It is the strongest hope in times of darkness - It is friendly for mankind.

The main concern of the study is the function of the speeches in the narrative structure of Acts. The study approaches the issue from three different perspectives. The first perspective, general in its character, concerns the function of the speeches as a literary genre in the structure of the Acts. To show this function is the purpose of the first chapter. The second perspective concerns the function of the topical speeches (the speeches, which develop the same topic) and of the structural speeches (the speeches without the topic, which is developed in another speech) in each particular section of the narrative in Acts. The result of the analysis provided in chapters two and chapter three are presented in chapter four. This perspective is something new in the study of Acts. The third perspective considers each of the speeches individually. For each speech, we provide three kinds of analysis: first, a narrative or structural analysis with a short outline of the context; secondly, we offer an analysis of the meaning of the speech with additional exegetical explanation; and thirdly, we examine the function of the speech.

Letters to the Thessalonians are the earliest writings of the NT, and for that reason they are the subject of unremitting interest to exegetes and theologians. Among the theological issues raised by the Letters the most analyzed and discussed problem is universal eschatology. While in 1 Thessalonians, this issue occurs together with many others exhortations, which the apostle gives the recipients of the Letter, in 2 Thessalonians, it becomes a central theme. In studies of the New Testament general eschatology, the Letters to the Thessalonians are one of the main sources, which provide important information about universal eschatology. 1-2 Thessalonians are base for discussing issues related prodroms, the resurrection of bodies and the Parousia of Christ.

  • Pual and Peter in the Acts

      詳細を見る

The dominant classification of Acts as the history of the early Christian Church whose main aim is to present the spread of the nascent movement from a less important part of the Roman Empire (Judea) to the very heart of the Empire (Rome), seems to be supported by Ac 1, 8 which is often taken as a kind of very general a table of contents. However, the rather unexpected end of Acts (a short and laconic account regarding Paul’s period in Rome), and Luke’s approach to and use of his sources, allow us to assume that Luke was aiming rather at a great story involving some main hearos and many other participants than are involved in just one thematic story. Following this assumption, based on the content of Acts, it is possible to individuate two main heroes (Peter and Paul) whose fate is somehow connected with many other persons that are also involved in giving witness to Jesus the Resurrected Messiah. In this study we look at Acts as the story concerning the two the most important witnesses, Peter and Paul, in order to determine their contribution to establishing the structural and doctrinal foundation of the New Israel.
